Global HR Forum 2012 | A-4 : HRST, The Force to change our Future
"HRST (Human Resources in S&T), The Force to change our Future"
Research and Development (R&D) as well as human resources in science and technology (HRST) is becoming more important for preempting future global market, and solving global issues such as climate change, energy and resource shortages. Education itself is not enough for fostering HRST, but also by its combination with R&D. many countries are trying to connect HRST policies with R&D of promising technologies. Since economic growth has reached its limit, voices are growing in Korea that we should turn from a "follower" of the technologies to a global "leader" creating new value and technology. To achieve this goal, the government has been strategically investing in the creative and challengeable convergence technology field. Government has also been nurturing its industry and human resources. Especially, Korean government has made efforts to recruit outstanding researchers and to promote research capability by establishing Institute for Basic Science (IBS) and etc. In this section, we will identify a right model for human resources development policy, who is responsible for future growth, by examining convergence and future fundamental technologies in several countries including Korea and examining core talent training strategy.
