The Gold Rush

公開日: 2013/01/05
On January 24, 1848, James Marshall found gold near the fork of the American and Sacramento Rivers, and unleashed a massive migration from around the world to what had been a forgotten backwater. With head-spinning speed, these gold-seekers created one of the most extraordinary societies in history -- hard-driving, overwhelmingly male, often brutal.

The Gold Rush was a remarkably international event; in short order, gold-seekers from Oregon and the Sandwich Islands (Hawaii), Mexico, Chile, England, France, Australia, Ireland, and China were soon knee-deep in water in the diggings. Each found themselves playing the Great California Lottery, in which luck not hard work or honesty, seemed the key to success.

The South American nation of Guyana is losing tens of millions of dollars each year because of widespread gold smuggling, despite the fact that the precious metal now ranks second after agriculture in the revenue it generates for the country. Gold is worth almost $400 million dollars a year to Guyana; stores are full of merchandise made with locally produced gold. The surge in the price of the metal has also led to billions of dollars in investment in the mining sector. Yet the country loses up to a third of its gold revenue as a result of smuggling. A World Wildlife Fund study estimates that tonnes of the country's gold is being moved illegally across the border into Suriname.

Judah Mining "Goldrush Ghana"

アップロード日: 2011/02/10
Judah Mining Based in Takoradi, Ghana Launches its new 24.5 acre Gold Concession in the wassa mining district..(Part of the proceeds will go towards building new homes, clean water plants, clothes, schooling, jobs, and many other needs of the ghanian people.) These are just random clips from juan's last 30 day tour in ghana. The land is very rich with gold. our testing stage with 1 rock crushing machine pumped out a staggering ounce in just under 10 hours of running material..(off and on production). The only problem is a vast supply of water to run the machines. We will now have to have a bore hole dug to get water from the ground. Stay tuned for the next episode of Goldrush Ghana!!!
