Flowering almond (Prunus glandulosa -dwarf, P trilobata) is a deciduous shrub native to China providing early season nector for pollinating insects. The rounded growth form reaches a height and spread of 12 to 15 feet (4 to 6 feet for the P. glandulosa). It growes best in full sun to filtered light in well drained loamy soil in hardiness zones 3 to 6. It is tolerant of wind but not wet soil or standing water. The one-seeded fruit attracts birds.

The Almond (Prunus dulcis, syn. Prunus amygdalus Batsch., Amygdalus communis L., Amygdalus dulcis Mill.) is a species of tree of the genus Prunus, belonging to the subfamily Prunoideae of the family Rosaceae and native to the Middle East.
