The Riser goes down 2000m+ to the BOP and Well head on the sea bed. The Riser gets disconnected from the BOP in a Huge Storm as the Emergency Disconnect System got activated due to the waves being higher than 12m.
After the EDS got activated, the Ship is more stable but damage occurred to the BOP connectors.
The Dynamic Position is attempting to keep the rig closest to the well center which is just not happening. The ship is connected by 2000m of Riser Pipe to the BOP and Well head on the sea floor, thus its like its tethered to the bottom and thus getting even more tossed around.
As the ship had come close to the limit of vessel stability (radius from well center and wave height), the EDS triggered
