World Health Organisation - Agreement WHO / IAEA - English subtitles

公開日: 2012/04/09
The real health consequences of Chernobyl and now Fukushima and of all nuclear activities have been covered up. The World Health
Organization (WHO), the international health authority, is subordinate to the nuclear lobby and has abdicated all responsibility in matters of radiation and health since it signed the WHA 12 40 Agreement (28/5/1959) with the
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This agreement prevents WHO from taking public positions which could cause prejudice to the IAEA, whose objective is the development of atomic energy in the world.

IndependentWHO (IW), a citizen movement, demands the complete
independence of the World Health Organization (WHO) so that it may act according to its founding principles in the area of radiation and health.
IW denounces the 1959 Agreement with the IAEA.
IW has held a silent protest -- the Hippocratic Vigil - in front of the WHO
headquarters in Geneva, every working day since 26 April 2007

"We won't eat it ourselves, but we sell it."

And they are encouraged to do so! And they won't be able to feed their families if they don't. It's a tragedy all around.

=========================================
Comment by David Bear on this video and its transcript:
=========================================

"In the agricultural policy managed by the Ministry of Agriculture, it is a priority to dispel the harmful rumor about Fukushima produce."

The above quote is from within the transcript (below). It clearly demonstrates the International Atomic Energy Agency's agenda: to dispel the 'harmful rumors' about contaminated agriculture. And here's how it's done.

First, you define the level of contamination which is "acceptable" (this is based on the International Council of Radiation Protection [ICRP]; these are the guys who did the radiological studies after Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 and 1946 and they created the standards of "acceptable" radiation exposures based on those studies. It is important that you understand this, because DNA wasn't discovered until 1952 (Watson & Crick) and radiological damage to DNA is much more subtle and happens at much lower levels of exposure. It is also important to understand that the ICRP has so far refused to adjust their "acceptable" limits to include considerations for damage to DNA).

Second, you do some generalized surveys, take the average readings and round them off (round them down to the next lowest number) and define that as the "limit" (this does not take into account actual levels of contamination at any particular location). (Of course, you say that any levels of contamination above that "limit" is a problem which will be studied and addressed.)

Third, you define the 'perceived problem' as a 'rumor.'

Fourth, you back it up by saying that the concentration of contamination (i.e., the 'rumor', is below the "acceptable" limits.

And here is the transcript [see link]:

The farmer in the video above states he is farming full time inside of Fukushima province, where the ground is highly radioactively contaminated. The equivalent area near Chernobyl was evacuated and is now a no go zone, where no one can live, farm, build, fish, hunt or do anything at all. He makes the point that he is working in his radiation contaminated fields, and he cannot measure any hot spots while he is doing his farming in this radioactive soil, nor can he protect himself. He is also breathing in the radiation dust from the soil that the tractor and wind kicks up. Who is protecting him?

He is growing rice in the Fukushima area. The rice measured higher than 100 Bq/kg of radiation, so what happens to this rice? It is legal in Japan to mix this radiation contaminated rice with 'cleaner' rice, and then sell it both domestically and abroad, as long as the end product has less than 100 Bq/kg total. But does that solve the problem of negative health issues resulting from eating this contaminated rice?

Would you trust them, knowing they are growing food in areas that around Chernobyl, no one can even live there, much less grow food?

Abe: Japan wants advice on water leaks
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says Japan wants to obtain advanced knowledge from other countries for use in preventing leaks of contaminated water at the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.
Abe made the remark at the opening ceremony of the 10th annual meeting of the Science and Technology in Society forum in Kyoto on Sunday.
Abe called the Fukushima Daiichi accident a "bitter lesson". He called on participants at the forum to contribute in their most advanced knowledge for use in coping with problems at the plant, including radioactive water leaks.

Fukushima produce promoted in London. Farmers from Fukushima Prefecture have showcased the safety of their produce at an event in London. A Japanese festival called Japan Matsuri was held on Saturday in the British capital's Trafalgar Square.

Japan to explain contaminated water issue at WTO
Japanese government officials plan to take up the issue of leaks of contaminated water at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant at the World Trade Organization. They want to address the concern of South Korea over radioactive contamination of seawater around the plant.

At 2:30 into video, they talk about how fish are going to be exported that have been caught from Fukushima and ship them overseas. It looks like a cheap radiation detector is being used over the fish, which would not tell anyone what kind of radiation is inside the fish. A scintillator dector is really the only way to tell with any accuracy what kind of radiation is inside of food of any kind, and this detector that they are waving over the fish is NOT that kind of dector.

Gov’t Officials: “All of Japan” at risk of food and water having serious contamination from Fukushima, now and into future — Land is contaminated out to 250 kilometers from plant (VIDEO)

Japan’s Energy Policy after 3/11, Dr. Tatsujiro Suzuki, Vice-Chairman of the Japan Atomic Energy Commission (At 1:20:30 in): “From now into the future — for all of Japan — food and water contamination could be serious. So the monitoring of food and water is very important in the future. […] it’s going to be internal exposure.” Watch Suzuki’s presentation here

Why would Japan even consider giving permission to grow food, raise cows, or grow fish on radiation contaminated lands within 250 km of Fukushima? Why would factories and towns invite citizens to come back and live there?

The answer? Japan is a small island. Fukushima has effectively contaminated more the country past Tokyo to the point where everyone should be evacuated. That would mean evacuating 40 million people, which is an impossible thing to do. If we consider the financial consequences, it would mean bankrupting the whole country.

So instead of doing the right thing and protecting future generation's health, the authorities and experts are making a cold, hard, money centered decision to decrease costs, while sacrificing millions of people to disease, cancer and premature death for tens of thousands of years into the future.

~~~~New Improved Lyrics~~~~~~~
Oh, where have you been, my blue eyed son?
Oh, where have you been, my darling young one?
I've stumbled around the sides of three exploded Nuclear reactors
I've walked an crawled through their broken crooked pipe ways
I've stepped in the middle of sizzling Plutonium puddles
I've been out in front of a dozen radioactive dead oceans
I've seen ten thousand body's mounded in graveyards.
And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, and it's a hard
As Actinide rain's are gonna fall.
Oh, what did you see, my blurred eyed son?
Oh, what did you see, my decaying young one?
I saw dying deformed baby's with doctors all around'em
I saw a Freeway of weeds with nobody on it
I saw wet black mould with Cesium that kept drippin'
I saw a room full of men with their Muller tubes a glowin'
I saw many fuel racks all covered with explosion debris
I saw ten thousand NRC talkers whose tongues were all broken
I saw contaminated food in hands and mouth of young children.
And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard
As Bucky ball rain's are a fallen'.
And what did you hear, my blind eye son?
And what did you hear, my fading young one?
I heard sounds of reactor explosions, it roared out a warnin'
Heard the roar of a Tsunami, contaminating the whole world
Heard sounds of spent fuel pools fires that were a blazin'
Heard ten thousand screaming' and nobody listenin'
Heard !STOP THE NUKE! cry, I heard rich people laughin'
Heard pissed off Blanch who told truth from the gutter
Heard the sound of a Scientist who cried in an empty Lab.
And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard
And Cesium rain's are now fallen'.
Oh, who did you meet, my no eyed son?
Who did you meet, my darling dead one?
I met a deformed child beside a three head pony
I met a glowing blue man dragging a red dying dog
I met a young woman whose body was burning
I met a tumored girl, she gave me a Krypton 85 rainbow
I met many men who's body's are Fukushima polluted
I met many more who's minds are Dieichie diluted.
And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard
It's a Plutonium rain already a fallen'.
Oh, what'll you do now, my truth open blue eyed son?
Oh, what'll you do now, my darling young wisdom one?
I want to naturalize the radioactive rain that's a fallin'
I'll replant to the depths of the worlds contaminated forest
Where good people are many and their hands are all clean
Where the pellets of Plutonium are not polluting their waters
Where the home in the valley meets the organic prison
Where the executioner's face is no longer a reality
Where hunger is gone, where souls aren't forgotten
Where clear is the color, where none is the number
And I'll tell it and think it and speak it and breathe it
And reflect it on-line so all internet world can see it
Then I'll filter the oceans until It starts a cleansein'
But I'll know my thoughts well before I start decidein'
And it's a new, it's a new, it's a new,
It's a new common sense a callin'
Reality for us all.
AGreenRoad - TEPCO Workers Suffer Radiation Contamination, Not
Workers at Fukushima plant suffer radiation poisoning.
The kicker is: The officials say the mister was spraying water from a dam about 10 kilometers away from the plant. The same water was being used for toilets and other facilities. TEPCO officials say the workers were exposed to radiation at a level of 19 becquerels per square centimeter. That's 5 times the limit set by the utility.
TEPCO reveals pumping plan of contaminated water
here's the kicker: It also warned of the approaching typhoon season. Not to Mention that the water is making the land kind of "Muddy" and Squishy... and the molten Cores beneath the earth are heating up with leaning nuclear spent fuel pools directly above them. Don't forget, if Fukushima Daiichi has yet another "situation" that goes "boom", nobody can go into any of the area There, OR, most likely Fukushima Daini (the other nuclear plant no longer mentioned) - that is about 10 KM away (as I recall). You would then have a Domino Effect. "the situation is Not Stable at ALL".
Ten workers at the wrecked Fukushima nuclear plant were exposed to radiation from contaminated mist [...] The workers were waiting for a bus when they were sprayed [...] It was unknown how the mist became contaminated [...] They were ordered to receive full body scans, which can detect exposure to their inner organs. [...] The workers' exposure was detected by a radiation monitor [...] Earlier today, Tepco reported that an alarm sounded at a dust monitor near the building, indicating high concentrations of radioactivity. [...]
ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation), August 12, 2013: I'm meeting Fujimoto-san after one of his 12 hour shifts, and I want to know how TEPCO is faring at trying to stop the leak of 300 tonnes of radioactive groundwater every day. Fujimoto-san just shakes his head. "Steam came out of the Reactor 3 building the other day," he tells me. "When it came out, TEPCO didn't even tell us. I found out about it on the TV news after I got home from work," he says.
Historically, nuclear workers and military recruits are lied to about radiation, the dangers it poses and the hazards faced while working at a normally operating nuclear plant for example. But Fukushima is an ongoing emergency. What kind of information are workers there given?
TEPCO workers are reporting that they are not given proper information about radiation at the site. One worker said no one told him #3 was steaming for example. Ten other workers were exposed to radioactive dust while waiting to catch a bus after their shift had ended and were taken to the hospital. Other workers are sent around to check the storage tanks, but with either no radiation detectors at all, or ones that only read a certain level, which is a very small percentage of what is actually coming out of the tanks in the form of lethal gamma rays.
198 TEPCO Liquidators Are 'Missing'; About 10,000 Remain - What
アップロード日: 2011/07/20
I'm joking about the Fukushima 50 comment, of course. We've seen nothing but lies from the start.
Tokyo Electric's lax worker management found
The operator of the troubled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant has failed to confirm the whereabouts of 198 workers who are believed to have worked at the plant since the nuclear disaster started.
Criticizing the operator's lax personnel management, the health ministry has instructed Tokyo Electric Power Company to identify the workers and have those workers
checked for radiation exposure tests by next Friday.
In a report submitted to the ministry on Wednesday, the company admits that it has failed so far to confirm the whereabouts of the 198 workers, who are on the name-list of workers at the plant between March and April.
The company also reports that it has conducted radiation exposure tests on 8,338 workers, but still has to test more than 1,500 workers, including the 198.
The utility had reported last Wednesday that the number of missing was 132.
The Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency is also investigating the case because if it is proven that some of these workers were hired by the company without their identities being confirmed, it could constitute a violation of anti-terrorism legislation.
Thursday, July 21, 2011 07:31 +0900 (JST)
Copyright NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation)
Around 200 workers are completely missing and just disappeared. With only a couple thousand workers at just ONE facility, how can a company LOSE 200 workers? What happened to them? Did they die? Did they get sick? Did they get intentionally 'disappeared' because they started asking too many questions? Maybe these were terrorists who went in and got some plutonium, just because it was there for the taking and no one was really watching in this emergency situation. Maybe someone is building a dirty bomb as we speak, because TEPCO failed to check the true identity of the workers.
And as the situation grows more and more desperate and dangerous at the Fukushima site, with ongoing leaks, power failures, the dumping of 400 tons of radioactive trash liquid in the ocean, and worse, how many workers are they going to attract? Where will these workers come from? Will they have effective screening tools to keep out those people who want access to nuclear materials in a destroyed nuclear facility, with radioactive materials spread all around the site for MILES around?
Who counts the number of the dead workers of the Fukushima?
アップロード日: 2011/10/27
It's said many workers have already been dead after restroing Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, though the gov't and TEPCO announced three workers were dead.
However, the anser of Sonoda, Parliamentary Secretary of Cabinet Office, implyies that nobody knows how many workers died after the accident.
On the other hand, Yuichi Satou of Kaitou suru Kisyadan(Reporters to Answer) claim that Masaaki Harayama, a presenter and chief of Section to Cotrol of New Type Reactor in Neuclear and Industrial Safety Agency should aske not only questioners but also answerers to make an answer correspondent to a question. But Harayama says nothing to the claim on Oct 24 2011 in the head office of TEPCO.
Actually, no one really knows how many workers are 'missing', and no one knows how many died while being employed by TEPCO, and as it seems from the above video, no government agency is taking this question on or asking for this information either.
No one in the government or the regulatory agencies seems to even want to know the answer to this question. Why not?
Hijackers Took Oak Ridge Nuclear Reactor Hostage; We Are All Hostages To Nuclear Power And Military Industry
Recently, a couple of terrorists used crude pressure cooker bombs in Boston. Everyone heard about this event, and it was covered 24/7 for a week solid. A massive effort is launched to find them, and President Obama declared that we will not tolerate terrorism or being held hostage in our homes by terrorists. Yet, have you ever heard of a single event around a nuclear facility and terrorists, ever? Isn't that odd, seeing that numerous nuclear facilities have been attacked or threatened by terrorists?
There are a number of ways that people and also nuclear power workers are being terrorized and have been held hostage around nuclear power and weapons production facilities. To understand the full scope and breadth of this hostage taking and terror that many people feel, one has to become an expert on all things nuclear, by following the links at the end of this article and reading the material offered.
TERRORISTS THREAT
Centralized power generation facilities are very dangerous, and highly subject to terrorist attacks. A decentralized system of solar collectors, wind power plants, and small scale hydropower plants don't have this same risk. A terrorist cannot threaten to blow up a home with a solar panel on it, and be taken seriously. However, a terrorist can and has threatened to blow up a nuclear power plant. Here is just one example of many...
"On the morning of Nov. 11, 1972, Oak Ridge stood still — or nearly so — while a hijacked Southern Airways jetliner circled above....It was a very, very scary situation,” Jim Alexander, a retired public affairs officer at the Department of Energy, recalled in a 2001 interview.....The hijackers threatened to crash the airplane into the Oak Ridge nuclear facilities if their demands, including $10 million in cash, were not met. [...] ....The threat was real, according to a 1977 book, “The Odyssey of Terror.”
The author, Ed Blair, wrote that the hijackers went berserk after placing a call to the White House and being shunned by John Ehrlichman, an aide to President Nixon, who apparently was unaware of the crisis. Blair reported that the hijackers held a grenade to the pilot’s head and ordered him to dive the plane toward the Oak Ridge reactor. The plane was actually in a nosedive when a report came over the radio that the money demands were being met [...]"
http://enenews.com/book-hijackers-had-airplane-in-nosedive-heading-for-u-s-nuclear-reactor-a-very-very-scary-situation-energy-official
Here we have proof that terrorists threatened to attack a nuclear power plant already inside of the USA. It is amazing that this is not done on a yearly basis, considering how vulnerable the USA is in this way. Yet, this terror attack was not the first one, and it will not be the last. Every single nuclear facility is highly vulnerable to terror attacks.
In another incident, someone shot at a security officer and then fled in a boat.
http://enenews.com/attack-nuclear-plant-multiple-shots-fired-security-officer-fled-boat-fbi-sending-team-site-many-details-wont-be-able-share/comment-page-1#comment-347562
In another terrorist attack, a nuclear plant was completely taken over by the intruders.
Hijackers Took Oak Ridge Nuclear Reactor Hostage; We Are All Hostages To Nuclear Power And Military Industry; via @AGreenRoad
Sadly, nuclear plants are so completely wide open to terrorist attack, that they cannot stop anyone from attacking them. Even Greenpeace has been able to penetrate multiple nuclear plant security features, with no problem. Whether by air or by ground, Greenpeace has shown over and over again, that nuclear plants are highly vulnerable to attack by terrorists.
http://www.kentucky.com/2013/05/21/2648548/greenpeace-drops-item-on-swedish.html
In the link that follows, Greenpeace flew some pigs over a nuclear plant, thus proving that pigs can fly. The conclusion is that if pigs can fly, nuclear power must be 'safe'.
http://www.greenpeace.org/international/en/news/Blogs/nuclear-reaction/nuclear-power-is-safe-and-pigs-can-fly/blog/45234/
In Japan, it is widely known that the labor provided to nuclear plants is at least partially controlled by the Japanese Mafia. What happens when you put criminals in charge of supplying labor for nuclear plants? Certainly, not something good or pleasant... Are you experiencing terror yet? If not, keep reading, you will be soon...
Documentary Movie; "Nuclear Ginza" - Japanese Nuclear Industry Horrors via @AGreenRoad
http://agreenroad.blogspot.com/2012/10/documentary-movie-nuclear-ginza.html
It is odd enough that nuclear power plants are highly subject to terrorist plane attack. It would make sense knowing that this is the case, that nuclear power plants would be located far away from any known flight paths and that no one be allowed within five miles of any nuclear installation, just in case of an accidental plane crashing into such a complex. But that would be too logical, safe and conservative.
The Three Mile Island Nuclear Plant that is located on the Susquehanna River, located on the East Coast, is right under the flight path into the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania airport. Any plane coming into this airport is only 2,000 feet in elevation above the nuclear plant as that airplane pilot comes in for a landing.
One tiny slip by any pilot, whether on purpose or if they have a heart attack for example, could mean millions of people dead, due to a full melt down of this plant, rather than the partial one that already happened and got covered up.
It is not necessary to crash a huge jet through the containment dome to take out a nuclear plant, and there are a number of highly vulnerable spots in any nuclear facility, which if they were taken out by even a small plane, would doom that plant to a full melt down and melt through, with the release of massive amounts of radiation in a doomsday type of scenario.
This highly dangerous and precarious situation present at all nuclear plants is further proof that both the FAA and NRC are toothless, decrepit brain dead watchdogs, because they allow this situation to continue, even after one known US terror attack on a nuclear plant plus a nuclear accident at TMI. Just one aircraft "accident" would mean the bankruptcy of the United States, assuming a full meltdown and melt through happened as a result of this.
The US is lucky that most terrorists are only after the money. So far the US has been lucky. Terrorists in almost all cases have been stupid enough to go after hijacking a plane and hold it ransom all by itself. Dumb terrorists have tried to blow up a jet with a bomb in their underwear. If we ever get smart terrorists, the USA will be in very deep trouble, very quickly.
The intelligence assets of the US have been focused on large scale attacks like this exclusively, because they know the consequences of just ONE success. The US can handle thousands or even tens of thousands of pressure cooker, shoe and underwear bombers. They are NOTHING in comparison to a nuclear plant melt through.
RADIOACTIVE POISONS
[...] Mike Johnson, president of the [EnergySolutions]‘s Commercial Facilities Group [...] said the Oak Ridge [Tennessee] facility has probably recycled about 1.5 million tons of radioactive metals since 1996 from foreign sources including Germany, Belgium and Canada. Rep. Bart Gordon, chairman of the U.S. House Science and Technology Committee [...] has called it a “terrible idea,” saying the United States has enough problems disposing its own nuclear waste. [...] It sets a very bad precedent which could result in a flood of nuclear waste being dumped in the U.S.,” said Tom Clements, a spokesman for Friends of the Earth in Columbia, S.C. [...]
http://enenews.com/strange-us-to-burn-100s-of-tons-of-radioactive-waste-from-germany-in-tennessee
Where are all of these metals being recycled to? Where do they go? Do they end up going back into consumer products like cars, metal furniture, clocks, radios and computers? Who is in charge of making sure that this does not happen?
The citizens of the US are being held hostage and are being terrorized, through a lack of information and clarity, by the whole nuclear industry from start to finish. The nuclear industry has a special language that ordinary people do not understand. The risks and poisons are invisible, so they can easily be hidden and denied using a variety of 'experts' hired specially for that purpose. We are all being held hostage by these 'experts'. No nuclear plant has any guages that work in case of an accident. Why not?
Why can't the local communities around any nuclear plant monitor radiation guages online in every home, so everyone knows what is going on at the nuclear plant exhaust stack, and all around the plant in a 360 degree circle? This EXTREME secrecy and lack of transparency is a HUGE part of the hostage taking and terrorizing of the citizenry.
Art And Science Of Deception; Global Corporations And The 1%
Radioactive metals and nuclear plant waste products such as depleted uranium are all poisonous and toxic to human health, but not in an obvious way, so they can be recycled into every day products and military hardware, ordinance, bombs and bullets, and no one knows the difference, until much later, when it is often too late to connect the dots. This poisonous depleted uranium for example, goes out and is used in civilian cities, tested all over the USA and will poison countless future generations because it is being used in every conflict and war that the US and many other nations get involved in.
We are all being held hostage by this for profit, greedy, mindless, soulless, heartless military industrial complex that allows, promotes, sells and profits from this poison from beginning to end.
It is good to know that we are 'safe' in the hands of the nuclear industry and the military industrial complex. Just trust them, and do not ask any questions. We cannot bring bottles of hand lotion, shampoo or water on the plane, and certainly we need to take off our shoes in a holy gesture of surrender to the Gods of Homeland Defense, who keep us safe from shoe bombers, (but not the underwear bombers.) How many people would continue to fly if this Dept of Homeland Defense made us strip naked, so they could check our underwear for bombs?
The hijackers above seem to have figured out that the money is easy and retirement is waiting if they threaten any nuclear power plant. No government in their right mind would refuse to pay that ransom demand, because the idea of a plane crashing into a nuclear power plant cannot even be contemplated, it is so awful in the full horror of what would happen.
The nuclear industry has hijacked the public and taken all of us hostage for one million years. One million years is the life of the toxic, radioactive fuel that countless future generations will have to guard, long after the 30 years worth of electricity that this toxic, deadly fuel produced, is long gone and forgotten.
Long Term Storage Of Nuclear Fuel, Nuclear Waste
http://agreenroad.blogspot.com/p/recycling-or-long-term-storage-of.html
When an accident happens in the nuclear industry, as it does on a an almost yearly basis, the public is taken hostage again financially, because they must shoulder the burden of cleaning up after the industry. The cost is in the TRILLIONS of Dollars. Which nation can afford that?
None... The industry itself is never to blame and never has to clean up after itself. Even the Super fund clean up costs have mostly been transferred to the public. Again, the public, meaning you and I, are being held hostage, legally, financially, and with radioactive substances that threaten our communities, our children and countless future generations.
How does it feel to be held hostage, with a nuclear gun to your head, and a nuclear bullet pointed at your kids heads, for the next million years?
Column: Caroline Kennedy’s first visit to Hiroshima
Column: Caroline Kennedy’s first visit to Hiroshima
Sept. 27, 2013
by Noritaka Egusa, Chief Editorial Writer
“A girl wearing a maroon overcoat, navy blue corduroys, and canvas shoes” is how the evening edition of the Chugoku Shimbun described the girl from the United States on her first visit to the A-bombed city of Hiroshima some 35 years ago. The article also noted her long hair and said that she remains a symbol of innocence.
That girl was Caroline Kennedy, at the age of 20. Today, she is set to become the next U.S. ambassador to Japan. Back then, she stepped into Peace Memorial Museum in her sneakers and lingered at the exhibits, even falling behind the others in her group, which included her uncle, Ted Kennedy, who was a U.S. senator at the time.
Her visit to Hiroshima lasted only six hours. To the reporters who pursued her, she said with a smile that circumstances prevented her from responding to questions. But at hearings now taking place at the U.S. Senate, she said, “I first visited in 1978 with my uncle, Senator Kennedy, and was deeply affected by our visit to Hiroshima.”
Curious, I searched for other articles and found one in the morning edition of the newspaper. After touring the museum, Ms. Kennedy and others, including Senator Kennedy, visited a hospital to see A-bomb survivors. When she saw the keloid afflicting a survivor, her face was somber. My hope is that the shock she experienced back then has remained to this day.
After being confirmed by the Senate, Ms. Kennedy is expected to assume the post as early as next month. I hope that she will make another, longer visit to Hiroshima and speak candidly about the atomic bombing and her view of a world without nuclear weapons. Naturally, I hope, too, that she will invite President Obama to join her. And, as before, sneakers will be just fine.
Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Aftermath (1946) - Rare News Footage
公開日: 2013/08/18
This short documentary contains the contemporaneous Japanese* footage of Hiroshima victims released by the US in the first year following the occupation of Japan. The film shows not only the effects of radiation on buildings where shadows of the blast remained, but medical staff attending to the treatment of burn victims in the aftermath of the Bomb's devastation.
It concludes with segments shot a year after the bomb by US occupation forces showing a classroom without walls in which a student sits at his desk writing. The flesh on his arm carries a scar from a burn. In the final shots, the streets are shown, complete with a trolley on which hang more passengers outside than inside, while the narrator (Ed Herlihy) intones about the 'little men' who dreamt of empire becoming subjects of US occupation.
The Hiroshima segment only runs for over a minute.
The rest of the film deals with atomic tests on Bikini Atoll conducted by the US in 1946. It includes the chief of Bikini Atoll being given an invitation to watch his island being bombed by the US admiral. (Do you suppose he could refuse?)
The rest of the film are shots of atomic testing, with a buildup to an aerial shot of the bombing at sea.
Was Hiroshima and Nagasaki the greatest act of terrorism in modern civilization?
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100416161619AAXn5qw
Grant asked 4 years ago
America bombed Hiroshima, Japan, August 6th, 1945. Almost 100,000 people died in this bombing. Most were innocent civilians. One of the personnel on the Enola Gay, the ship that carried the bomb, nicknamed 'Little Boy' remarked in a journal "My God. What have we done?" After seeing the deadly mushroom cloud rise after the explosion on the island.
3 days later, on August 9th, another atomic bomb, nicknamed "Fat Man" was dropped on Nagasaki. Again, most casualties were innocent civilians. In my mind, it doesn't matter how vicious and ferocious war gets, it is absolutely never justified to drag civilians into the matter. All this is is a testament to how something like war can incite such terrible consequences. The death count in both attacks was 140,000 people. 92% civilians. Was this the greatest by body count, act of terrorism in modern history?
