http://www.BuildSomethingUseful.com This is a small motor I built. It is definitely an external combustion engine but is it a Stirling Engine? I've heard it referred to as a Hot Air Engine and a Lamina Flow Engine. Whatever you call it, it can run with the heat from the sun and that's pretty cool.

スターリングエンジン（Stirling engine）は、シリンダー内のガス（もしくは空気等）を外部から加熱・冷却し、その体積の変化により仕事を得る外燃機関。熱交換をすることによってカルノーサイクルと同じ理論効率となる。スコットランドの牧師、ロバート・スターリングが1816年に発明し、名称はこれに由来する。
