Japan kids ingesting pieces of Fukushima fuel rods? Mystery black substance "very likely contains concentrated unburned nuclear fuel":Jul10,2013 http://fairewinds.org/podcast/japans-...
-END-

*Marco Kaltofen, President at Boston Chemical Data Corp. & Doctoral student researcher at Worcester Polytechnic Institute:The sample had fairly high levels of radium 226. Now that's not a radioisotope that we hear as much about. The radium 226 has almost as much activity as the radioactive Cesium in the sample. Radium 226 is a degradation product of uranium and we can't really detect the uranium directly. [...] Radium 226 which is much more intensely radioactive than the original uranium. And this tells me that this particle contains not only fission waste products from the reactor but very likely contains a concentrated unburned nuclear fuel. And that's unusual. This sample had by far the highest level of uranium daughters that we've seen in a dust or soil sample. We're actually seeing material that might well have come from inside a failed fuel assembly. *Certainly they could be ingested. They're much more an ingestion hazard. And that usually tends to target children and agricultural workers. [...] A child on average consumes between 100 and 200 milligrams of soil a day because of hand-to-mouth activity. So that's something to really think about.

Since I posted this video, the 'Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists' published a special edition on low-dose radiation, the lead article of which

matches and thereby corroborates the case I present in this video. It also covers additional research and nuclear-industry efforts to derail scientific investigation of radiation risks.

L.A. Rain Radiation Over Five Times Normal
http://youtu.be/8LZRQrAtsT0
An imperfect storm swept into Southern California on, perhaps appropriately enough, April Fools weekend creating the conditions that tested EnviroReporter.com's scientific hypothesis that radioactive "buckyballs" and other fission radionuclides from the triple Fukushima Japan meltdowns are already impacting the region. Sure enough, a rain composed primarily of sea mist formed over a choppy ocean with high winds tested higher than any other Los Angeles Basin rain since Radiation Station Santa Monica began fallout radiation tests March 15, 2011, four days after the unabated meltdowns began. The rain, not impacted by so-called "natural" radon progeny, came in at a whopping 506% above normal, more than high enough to qualify as a hazardous material situation for the California Highway Patrol. This is the hottest L.A. rain detected with our Inspector Alert nuclear radiation monitor in the over 1,500 radiation tests we've taken since last year's Ides of March.
