Blade Runners – Renewable energy on a grand scale

Ever wondered about the work that goes into building a wind farm?

Back in 2010, SSE was in the midst of two major construction projects, which would both deliver renewable energy on a grand scale. With a combined capacity of over 500MW, the construction of Clyde and Griffin wind farms represented the largest onshore wind projects the company had ever undertaken and both will remain an important part of the country’s energy portfolio for decades to come.

To mark the significance of these projects, we commissioned a film to chart the development process; the mammoth effort, and challenges, of the construction phase and the impact the wind farms now have on the local community.  Over the course of three years, the cameras followed the project teams through sun and snow, from initial ground works to open days.

You can watch the result, Blade Runners, below.
